Just Add Ink

Well here is the second challenge card for the day. This one is for Just Add Ink. A very different challenge this week. We were given the picture above and take what ever inspiration we could get from the picture. Wow the mind boggles. Firstly when I had a first look at the picture I did think of sunflowers and how/what I could do for my card. The petals on this flower look so soft. So sorry Ladies but I did stick with a sunflower card.

I have used Cherry Cobbler for the main card with a layer of Pear Pizzazz and Very Vanilla. I made my flower by cutting out 1" x 1" squares and folding them then adhering them to a circle. They all have a dimension on the back because I wanted them to stand up rather than lay flat. I used my Teachers Pet Stamp Set for my 2 little bees.

So don't forget to click over for inspiration from the design team.

Ok well ladies if you read my original post (below) you might excuse me because it is very hot and we are re-painting my sons room, so I got the challenge wrong.

The challenge for the Play Date Cafe was Black and White with a splash of Lilac/Purple. Oh me I forgot the black. Might need to get my eyes checked again. Well here is the new card with the correct colours. I actually decided to just make an adjustment on my original card, because I do love my flowers (even if I have to say so myself lol).

So sorry for the mix up but hope you still like this one.

My butterfly and saying is stamped in perfect plum and the flowers have been edge sponged with the same ink. Unfortunately very hard to photograph but the flowers do have Crystal effects on them to look like drops of waste.

Well I know it is really really hot here at the moment, and silly us have decided to re paint our son's room, while he is away on holiday. (Only time we can get him out of the room long enough lol)but I did manage to get some time out to make some challenge cards. This one is for the Play Date Cafe challenge which is just add a splash of Lilac/Purple.

I wanted to use a light shade of purple, but unfortunately SU have retired Lavender Lace and the only other purples we had were a rather dark. So had to come up with another plan. I have just received my new Presto Papers from the Mini Catalogue so wanted to use them. I decided to brayer a piece of the paper and I used Perfect Plum. Best I could get for a light purple shade. These papers are fantastic, put your own mark on them and you never know what you can come up with. Anyway I also wanted some flowers but instead of stamping I wanted something to pop, so made these flowers that the lovely Tanya showed us how to do. Then I added the saying and butterfly which I also used some kindy glitz to give it that sparkle. Gotta love that bling. There you have it here is my sample.

Challenge Card

Well we have a Sketch Challenge over at the Just Add Ink website along with a colour challenge at the Play Date Cafe. So I thought I would try and do one card for two challenges this time.So with both the colours and sketch I set about to make my card. I used Basic Grey for the main card, and using the Top Note die I cut out some old olive, then used Pumpkin Pie for the final layer and just rounded the corners off with my corner rounder punch. I decided to emboss the main card so used the Elegant Lines embossing folder and then with a sponge I just lightly sponged some pumpkin pie ink over the raised image, I also sponged around the old olive cardstock. I also added some old olive ribbon which I braided through the bottom of the pumpkin pie cardstock. The sentiment I used is "best wishes" from the Silhouette Sentiments stamp set available for all hostess'.

Don't forget to click over to the other websites to see what other demonstrators have come up with. Some great cards and inspiration from all.

Thanks for stopping and hope you enjoy

Curtain Call Colour Challenge 65

Ok cutting this one abit fine, but managed to get one done for the Curtain Call Challenge this week. They have another colour challenge for us. So with that in mind I needed a card to say Thank you to a friend that did some sewing for me. This is what I came up with.

I thought the buttons die for the Bigshot would be a good start, as she did do some sewing for me. I embossed some of the buttons as well for some texture, Crimped the top right hand side and added one of the brights button, with some real red ribbon along the bottom and the sentiment says "Thanks so much".

Don't forget to pop over to the Curtain Call website for lots more inspiration.

Just Add Ink

Well Ladies it funny how things just come to you out of the blue. I posted a card yesterday for the Just Add Ink challenge which is just add Monochrome. I had fun with this challenge.

While sitting at my desk earlier I had some bits and bobs just sitting there and all of a sudden wham a thought for another card came to mind. A very good friend of mine brought the Tim Holtz antiques die and she brought it around for me to have a look, so I cut one out and the colour I grabbed which was sitting on my desk was Very Vanilla. I had the soft suede ink pad sitting there as well, so grabbed my sponge and sponged away had no idea what I was going to do with them so left them there for later. As I also had the new Crochet Trim sitting there waiting to be used. My wheel with the Very Vintage wheel was also there that I had used a couple of days before, I decided to go with a Very Vanilla card.
So that was my starting point:- Very Vanilla card, antique die cuts, crochet trim, soft suede ink pad, very vintage wheel. I love it when things just fall into place and once I assembled my card, I thought well there you go, I liked it so much and thought this will fit the Just Add Ink challenge (I think) so have decided to add this one as well as my other one.

So Ladies if you are lacking a bit of inspiration, a tip from me:
Have a look at whats on your desk, you just never know what you can do.

Hope you like my card and get a little bit of inspiration from your desk, just like I did.

Thanks for stopping by and if you have your own inspiration story leave me a comment as I might need to use it one day........

Play Date Cafe Challenge 64

Ok another challenge for the Play Date Cafe. I know that picture is just great for a little of inspiration so this is what I came up with. The colours I chose to match the colours above are, Marina Mist, Kraft and Brushed Silver cardstock. I also used some Designer Series Paper, Elegant Soiree which I thought was a great match as well.
I got out my bigshot machine again and run through the Blossom Party Die a few times to make my flowers. I have used the new lace ribbon available in the Summer Mini Catalogue. The tiny tags are from Tiny Tags stamp set and the sentiment is 4 You.

If you would like to see what others have come up with click on the link in the right side bar for the Play Date Cafe. Great inspiration from everyone.

Just Add Ink #51

Well yes I have another Challenge card for you today. I stayed up last night making the challenge cards and this one is a favorite of my Just Add Ink have decided to have a Theme challenge this week. Oh no what is installed for us this week. When I saw that they had just add MONOCHROME, I thought oh dear. Monochrome they say, well I thought and thought and thought a little more and decided to go with the obvious black and white

Here is what I came up with.

I have used well its abit obvious Black and White cardstock with the Because I care level 1 Hostess set. I also used the Very Vintage wheel in basic grey across the corners. I then adhered all the white cardstock onto black cardstock and layered them across each other. Then I put the Thankyou sentiment across the bottom. The Hydrangea is coloured in with my aqua painters in basic black and I did actually do 2 so that I could raise one to give a nice effect.
Not to sure about this one but all in all I think it turned out ok.

Don't forget to pop on over to the Just Add Ink site and see what all the design team came up with. Some amazing cards as always.

Curtain Call Colour Challenge 64

Well I came across this challenge through another Demo's blog and thought I would give this one ago. So for my first Curtain Call challenge I did a really quick and easy card. I haven't made this design for a while so thought I would revisit it. The challenge was a colour challenge and you can see the colours we had to use
I have made my card using the scallop circle die with the bigshot and then will my circle scissor plus cut out the two other layers. I used the Pendant Park stamp set and I stamped the tree with versamark and then with my pastels I daubed over it in Always Artichoke. Another technique I haven't used for a while (Popping Pastels). I daubed some pacific point ink around the white layer as well.

So don't forget to pop over to Staceys Stamping Space to see what everyone else has come up with.

A colour challenge this week from The Play Date Cafe

Well I nearly forgot to post this card. This is for the Play Date Cafe challenge.
I struggled at first with this one due to the colours, wasn't really sure what I was going to do, until I sat down and had a think about it, with the colours in front of me and then I thought I might just go to the wonderful Bigshot machine and my dies to see what I can come up with. I did plan for no stamping this time, but I did manage to sneak in the tag from the Perfect Punches stamp set. Here is the card that I came up.

I have used the Brushed Gold card stock for the main card and then Garden Green to cut out my flower stem, which is the sizzix die Cherry Blossom and then with my Trio Flower punch I punched out the flowers in the brushed silver cardstock. I have stamped the tag in metallic gold ink onto very vanilla cardstock and hung it over the branch with silver cord. I added a touch of crimping to the right top hand side and some paper piercing to the bottom right hand side. I am happy with how it has turned out even if I do say so myself, definitely very different for me.

Driving by with a Birthday Hi

Well hows this 3 posts in one day, I must have a dirty house and lots of washing to do, but hey, stamping is more fun.....lol This card was made for my Nephew whose birthday is just around the corner. As I had all the colours out for the Just Add Ink Challenge thought I would go with those colours again. Which was good actually because my nephew has a purple card, not exactly a pick up ute, but hey best I could do, as I don't have a falcon stamp.hehe...

This was a very easy and quick card to make... Gotta love those one..

I herd it was your Birthday

Well Ladies I came across another challenge site, so thought I would give this one ago, as I think the reason behind these challenges are great. The site is called, A Cause for cards and you can check it out here.
A Cause for Cards has been set up to raise awareness about Australian Charities/Causes that are not necessarily commonly known and to potentially assist in raising funds for such causes.

For the January challenge we have to create a card using an image of an animal, the colours green and red and a sentiment that is words of love, encouragement or support.

This is what I created. I have used some retired DSP Paper and cut out the elephants and trees. Cardstock is Choc Chip and Old Olive, and I made the tag from the computer which reads "I Herd it was your Birthday".

I also managed to decorate the inside of the card and this is what it looks like.

Happy Bird Day

Well its time for another challenge from the Just Add Ink Design team. This week we have a colour challenge.

I have been using my time lately to do up some Scrapbook Layouts for all my photos that need to be put into albums, but this week I thought I would get back in to making some cards, due to the fact that I will be starting classes again next week. Yay the time has been good for catching up but I need to get back into classes. So This is the card I came up with.

I thought I would re-visit some of the stamp sets I don't use very often this time. So with the stamp set Always in my hand I set out to make my card. I have used all the colours in the challenge, plus I used the scallop trim border punch and weaved my elegant eggplant ribbon through it. To make the faux grass I used the scallop edge punch, punched it out once and then went back through to get the fluffy fraid look. I have used dimensions to make the tag at the top and bird stand out a little. The saying comes from the Picture This stamp set.

Flamingo Layouts

Well here Ladies I have done another couple of layouts. I haven't as yet put photos to them but with the summery look I am sure I will find some.

I have used the retired Pink Flamingo Designer Series Papers for both these layouts. Yes you are right there is alot of cutting out with these layouts. The first one is on a 12" x 12" Pink, where as the second one is on a Yellow 12" x 12" both not stampin up. I have used a Tempting Turquoise photo mat that has been crimped, with whisper white ribbon and blue rhinestones above. Below I have used the same except tempting turquoise ribbon and the stamp set called Fifth Avenue Floral, which have been stamped, water coloured and cut out. The scallop trim punch was used on both layouts.

Brothers Forever

Well yes I have another post today for you. This one is again of my two wonderful boys.
The tag on the right is from the Life Definitions set and reads

You: The one and only; the one I
value as my friend and love each
day. The person in my thoughts.

I found this was perfect for the pictures.

Cardstock: Bashful Blue 12" x 12", Night of Navy
Stamp Set: Seaside, Life Definitions.
Access: Jumbo brads, Alphabet dies, brads
Technique: Thumping.

Here is another one I made. I made this page look like a boat because of the picture. I also put a little port hole in there and behind it is a picture of my youngest Son Bryden. Looks like he wants to get out. I have used the swiping technique on the boat, by rubbing 3 different stamp pads along the page. Looks a bit weather worn.

Summer Days

Just Add Summer

Well another challenge from the Just Add Ink design team. What a perfect theme this one is at the moment. With our very hot summer days and temperatures reaching 40 degree what a great way to show off those summer fun photos. The design team have come up with Just Add Summer this week.

Like I said earlier I was using these challenges and my time off to get my photos into layouts. So for this challenge this is what I came up with.

This is one of my all time favorite photos of my eldest son Travis. He didn't know I was taking it and it is just so natural I love it. I have also added a photo on the top right hand side of Travis with Mum and Dad.

Cardstock: Bashful Blue 12" x 12", Night of Navy and Yoyo Yellow (retired)
Stamp Set: Seaside
Tools: Crimper
Technique: Paper tearing.
Added sand along the right hand side for the beachy look.

Here is another one I also did, using pretty much the same as above.

Don't forget to click on the link on the right hand side to pop over to the Just Add Ink website to see all the other great designs for this Theme.
